A Guide to the Museum Artifacts Collection

The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery Artifact Collection consists of over 40,000 objects representing the history and culture of Northern Colorado, collected since the museum's inception in 1941. These objects include household and personal artifacts, clothing and textiles, agricultural and industrial materials, biological and geological specimens, and archaeological collections.

Objects in The Fort Collins Museum Artifact Collection serve many purposes: they enhance interpretation through exhibition, they serve as teaching tools for local groups and schools, and they serve as valuable tools for local and national researchers. The project to make these collections accessible online began in 2008 and is ongoing: records for approximately a third of these artifacts are currently online, of these only a tiny portion includes digital images.

Researchers may request physical access to Fort Collins Museum Artifact Collections by contacting the Collections Curator Linda Moore at (970) 416-2784.
