The Larimer County Tax Assessor Records from 1948-1990 have been donated to the Local History Archive for their research value. There are approximately 50,000 records with photos and often these are the only existing photographs of Larimer County's early residences. Many of these photographs have been scanned and are available for online viewing.
The tax assessor records are also available for research by visiting the archive. The records are full of interesting building information, and often include construction details and sketches of building footprints.
The Local History Archive keeps the tax assessor records for Fort Collins and many smaller nearby areas in Larimer County, but the Loveland, Berthoud, and Estes Park records have been transferred to their libraries or museums.
Scanned tax assessor records are searchable! Here are three ways:
Perform a basic search for an address in all collections in the upper right search box on the History Connection website. This will bring up all records, including tax assessor records, that we have scanned for a particular address.
Narrow the results by searching for an address in the upper right search box, and use the drop down menu to select Historic Photographs.
To get even narrower results, use the proximity advanced search. Click on Advanced Search under the History Connection banner, then select By Proximity as the search option, then you can do a search for an address number within 2 or more words of the street name. Search across all collections (which is the default) to see everything online for a specific address, including the scanned tax assessor records.
